Things Happen In A
Blink Of An Eye
Recently, while traveling back from Colorado , my husband and I had a near
catastrophe happen in our motor home. We had just crossed over the state line
into Texas
when we blew out a steer tire on the driver’s side.
Now, I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this
before, but to say it was scary is the understatement of the year.
Thankfully, my husband, who owns a trucking company and has
driven big trucks for most of his life, knew exactly what to do. We were able
to avoid hitting anyone while making it safely over to the shoulder of the
road. But as a writer, well, naturally that got my creative juices flowing, (at
least after I recovered from the fright).
I started thinking about other near misses and how most of
the major events in life happen in the blink of an eye, both good and bad.
For instance, I fell in love with my husband in a blink of
an eye. Yeah, I know, corny, but true. I read my first romance novel, was
hooked, and knew (in a blink of an eye) that this was what I wanted to do with
my over-active imagination that kept getting me in trouble, (thank goodness).
But for all the good moments that happen instantly, there
are some bad ones that stand out as well.
My dad passed away in the blink of an eye the summer before
I turned twenty-one. I still miss him even after all these years.
And, in a moment in time, the world changed forever, (at
least for us American), after September
11, 2001 . I will never forget where I was at that time when the
first plane hit the World
Trade Center
and life, as we knew it, was gone in a vapor.
That's kind of the premise for all three of my contemporary romances that I will be giving away to one lucky winner:
In His Favorite Mistake, Brody Samuels fell in love with Reyna James in the blink of an eye. The only problem was, she was married to his best friend.
She was unforgettable to him the first moment that he met her and just as “off limits”. Reyna James was taken. How contemptible do you have to be to fall in love with his best friend’s wife?
That was the same question that Brody Samuels had wrestled with for more than eight months now since meeting Reyna James. But now everything had changed. Everything that he believed to be true about her, about Cade about their so-called perfect marriage was as dead as his friend.
At twenty years old life should only be just beginning but for Reyna twenty felt far too old and far too over. Living through eight months of a nightmare marriage that ended as violently as it began made it clear to her that she had never truly been in love with her husband Cade. There wasn’t any such thing as fairy tales and happily ever after as far as Reyna was concerned. The one thing in her life that has any meaning anymore was her growing friendship with Cade’s boss and close friend Brody Samuels. And it is quickly becoming the most important thing in the world to her.
In Sleeping With The Enemy, Kate Bradshaw realizes she has no idea the man she married in a blink of the eye is really her enemy.
,
Kate Bradshaw believes she's married the man of her dreams
until she discovers the truth. Her marriage to Alec Bradshaw is built on lies
and Alec's real reason for their worldwind romance and marriage has nothing to
do with love.
In The Truth About Fairy Tales, Maggie Malone thought she knew exactly what she wanted in life until she came face to face with the bluest eyes in Texas and in the blink of an eye, her future changed.
It’s funny the things that go through your mind when you
realize your future, or at least what you thought was your future is at stake.
And everything that you’ve worked your whole life believing in isn’t really what
you want after all.
This is the story of me - a little girl from Santa Anna, Texas, Maggie, short for Mary Margaret Malone. I’m the one who thought I could have it all. She just didn’t know at the time what that meant. This is my story.
It’s a love story, although I never really believed in all that fairy tale, love at first sight kind of stuff until I met Jackson Riley. You see life taught me at a very young age that such things as fairy tales don’t really exist for most people. Certainly not for me, a girl of the streets.
