Join me in welcoming author Lorhainne Eckhart to my blog...

Is there a different romance genre you’ve been wanting to write?

This is an interesting topic. When I sit down to write a story, I like to tackle issues that are forefront in the community at the time, and if there is any controversy, I will leap in with both feet.

Keep in mind there is a romantic relationship in the midst of my stories. The central characters for now will remain a man and a woman, that I won’t stray from. However, my third novel when I sat down to write it, I did not intend to write a different genre. Only what happened as I researched and wrote, the story changed to something different. Something I needed to write.

Now completed, Walk the Right Road – Jerome’s Story is a step out from contemporary romance. It is a single title work of Women’s fiction, a complex plot, which includes paranormal elements and romantic suspense. It tackles subjects that took me almost two years to research. It is based on a group of friends who get themselves involved with the wrong friends and the wrong side of the law.

This novel has a sequel that picks up after a tragic loss suffered by one of the characters in the novel. It becomes their story, which addresses some strong moral issues. Is there still romance in the story? There are romantic elements included in the story, but it does not fall under the romance genre. Where will I go after this sequel? I can’t say for sure. Although I love to read the happy ending, sometimes in a story such as the one I just finished, the happy ending is not always possible.
Thanks so much for joining us today, Lorhainne.

Hi Loretta, I hope you enjoy reading my novel. It really was not difficult to write a different genre, I was surprised when I started, but it was a novel I needed to write.
