Heartbreakers....

The Webster's Dictionary defines a heartbreaker as, a person, event, or thing that causes heartbreak. For the romance reader, a heartbreaker can come in many forms, but when you put him with a well-developed heroine, well, it makes for one enjoyable romance novel.

The heartbreaker could be the bad boy who can't seen to help himself, or the good guy who ends up breaking the heroine's heart to pursue the greater good.

Which do you prefer? The bad boy draws the heroine in even though she knows he's bound to break her heard and leave her picking up the pieces. But can the bad boy be tamed? Well, it certainly takes the right woman. When I think of a bad boy, Rhett Butler comes to mind.

Rhett Butler was tall, dark and devishly handsome and he took what he wanted, namely Scarlet O'Hara. They just don't make hero's like that anymore. Even though Rhett and Scarlet fought like crazy, to a certain extent she was able to tame her bad boy, especially when the baby was born. If only Scarlet hadn't been such a selfish person, her love story could have turned out differently.

   

Or perhaps you prefer the the good guy who may truly have the heroine's well being in mind until faced with doing his part to help the greater good.   Take for example, Ashley Wilkes  



     



Ashley truly wanted what was best for Scarlet but he couldn't commit to her. He worshiped her from afar, always doing what was right instead of just going for it like Rhett Butler would have.

So, what's your favorite heartbreaker type?  For me, well, it's simple. I'll take Rhett any ol' day. Scarlet, for God's sake, open your eyes!

There's just something about the alpha male, isn't there? A Norman Rockwell Mood

I'm in a Norman Rockwell mood today. Okay, I realize that sounds silly, but yesterday, I started thinking about the upcoming holidays and Christmas and how much things have changed since Norman's time and I found myself wishing there were still such places in the world as what can be found in Rockwell's beautiful small town paintings.

Oh, don't get my wrong, I love our technological world, but wouldn't it be nice sometimes just to go back in time and live in a world where no one locked their doors at night. Everyone was respectful to each other and it wasn't so much about what you got for Christmas as it was the time you got to spend with family.

Just for a little while today, come back with me to a time when life was simple. Let's go for a cup of coffee at Aunt Mabel's and don't worry, you don't have to lock your door because this is Norman Rockwell's world.

So, what do you think? Would you like to go back there? Is there any small towns left in America that resemble Norman Rockwell towns? If you know of one, let me know.

It's finally starting to feel like fall here.

This is my favorite time of the year. Fall is in the air. Trees are turning gold and orange and it's finally getting cool enough to start creating those delicious fall recipes once more.

I've been thinking, I know I love to cook and I'm sure there are many of you who love it as well. So what better way to combine cooking with books than to give away a free ebook to one person with the best recipe.

Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle

Ingredients

• 2 (14-ounce) packages gingerbread mix
• 1 (5.1-ounce) box cook-and-serve vanilla pudding mix
• 1 (30-ounce) can pumpkin pie filling
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/3 teaspoon ground cardamom or cinnamon
• 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping
• 1/2 cup gingersnaps, optional

Directions

Bake the gingerbread according to the package directions; cool completely. Meanwhile, prepare the pudding and set aside to cool. Stir the pumpkin pie filling, sugar, and cardamom into the pudding. Crumble 1 batch of gingerbread into the bottom of a large, pretty bowl. Pour 1/2 of the pudding mixture over the gingerbread, then add a layer of whipped topping. Repeat with the remaining gingerbread, pudding, and whipped topping. Sprinkle of the top with crushed gingersnaps, if desired. Refrigerate overnight. Trifle can be layered in a punch bowl.

Kara had a gift – only she didn’t think of it in those terms – for it brought enormous pain. Her psychic visions were generally nightmares of seeing and feeling pain and death of the victims, but never quite seeing the villain – especially in the case of the Angel of Death. It seemed like the AOD had a psychic gift which was even stronger than Kara. Fact was, the author revealed how Kara had never felt the villain they apprehended and killed six years before was the Angel of Death. She knew now he wasn’t dead because Kara was now beginning to feel him all over again. Delving deeper into KILLER MOVES the author brings out aspects that backed up Kara’s theory and why running to hide in the middle of nowhere in the desert seemed to be her best option.

Men being men, Davis himself hadn’t a clue of the harm he’d done when dumping Kara. Only that he knew he’d handled it all wrong – and in six years time he hadn’t tried to make it right! This reader really wanted to give him a sound ‘whack’ but, he did come around eventually to save the day. One other thing about KILLER MOVES is that I love a twist ending and this turned into a pretty good surprise.

Would you die for me?

If you asked anyone on the street that question, they'd look at you as if you'd lost your mind. Would you die for me? Most of us would have a hard time saying yes to that question even if it meant dying for someone we loved. But that's what Jesus did. He died so that we could have everlasting life with Him. On this Easter Sunday, I hope you take time out from the egg hunts and family gatherings to remember the sacrifice our Savior made for us. Happy Easter.

Good Friday - And Ten Thousand Angels Cried!

Let me set the scene for you. Jesus, the Creator of the world  crucified, cruelly, horribly, and bloodily, on a day just like this. We call it Good Friday. For Heaven it had to be the worst moment in human history. 

Picture it with me. Stillness filled the Heavens, on crucifixion day.Some say it rained, I don't know if it's true.Well, I can just imagine ten thousand angels cried. That would seem like rain to me and you. The angels all stood ready to take Him from the tree.They waited for the words from His voice. And when he asked the father why has thou forsaken me. They watched the saviour die of his own choice. As the sun slipped away, the skies turned to grey and when Jesus gave his all that's when the tears began to fall.

I've never seen ten thousand angels cry but I'm sure they did as they stood by and watched the saviour die.God turned his head away, he couldn't bear the sight. It must have looked like rain when ten thousand angels cried.

I can't imagine that much love. As a human being, I'm deeply ashamed that it was because of my sin, that Jesus had to die. But I'm eternally grateful that on the third day, God raised him from the dead and granted everyone who believes everlasting life.
 
So if your having a really bad Good Friday I say to you, hang in there. Sunday's coming.

Old Dog - New Trick

Is it possible to teach an old dog a new trick? Now, I'm not that terribly old, (50ish), but I'd say I'm definately creaping up on the old dog category. I'm certainly set in my ways at times and definately like my routine. So, I ask God this question one day. Is it possible to teach an old christain and new path?
His answer...yes. It's never too late.
Today, I truly beliieve that these are the days of Elijah. Jesus Christ has promised he will return. No one knows the day or the hour except for God, but I truly believe the time is close.
And because of that, we all need to learn to be lights leading others to the one true God.
This is Passion week. This week we celebrate not the death, but the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He is alive. He defeated death, hell, and the grave. Some day soon he's coming back. Are you ready? If not, it's a simple as ABC:
To know God and be ready for heaven,follow these steps:

A. Admit you are a sinner.

"There is no one righteous, not even one ... for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Romans 3:10,23. (See Romans 5:8; 6:23.)

Ask God's forgiveness.

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Romans 10:13

B. Believe in Jesus

(put your trust in Him) as your only hope of salvation.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 (See John 14:6.)

Become a child of God by receiving Christ.

"To all who receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12 (See Revelation 3:20.)

C. Confess that Jesus is your Lord.

"If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 (See verse 10.)


If you said this prayer, you are saved. Congrats. You've just made the most important decision of your life. But it doesn't end there. Now, go, spread the word. Make deciples. Be the light!

Palm Sunday - Why did the crowds turn against Jesus so quickly? One week they welcomed Him, and the next week they demanded He be crucified.

Today is Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, marks the beginning of Holy Week. This is a time when Christian’s all over the world will commemorate events that took place in the last days of Jesus’ life on Earth.

The events of Palm Sunday fulfilled a prophecy spoken over 450 years earlier, found in Zechariah 9:9 "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey.”


Matthew 21:7-9 records the fulfillment of that prophecy: "They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ Hosanna in the highest!"

Today, Christians around the world will celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem (which we usually call "Palm Sunday," because the crowd welcomed Him by spreading palm branches in His path). Those who greeted Him were convinced He was the Messiah (or "anointed one"), sent by God to establish His Kingdom on earth. The Bible says they shouted, "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" (Matthew 21:9).


But not everyone in Jerusalem welcomed Him; the very next verse says that "the whole city was stirred and asked, 'Who is this?'" In other words, those who welcomed Him were His disciples—but large numbers of people were still debating who He was. Some of them (but not His disciples) later demanded His death.

Where would you have been on that first Palm Sunday? Among the disciples who welcomed Him—or among the skeptical crowds? You cannot remain neutral about Jesus. He came for one reason: "Christ died for sins once for all ... to bring you to God" (1 Peter 3:18). Make your decision for Christ today.

So, today, remember you have a choice to make as well. Have a blessed Holy Week.
